Our 4th "birthday" as a company is coming up on August 1st. The week will be full of celebrations, as my dear chunky monkey turns ONE on the 4th! (I can't believe time has flown by so quickly!). With my daughter, it was easy to come up with the perfect party.... so easy, she ended up having 3 different ones in one day. (Yes, Birthdays are my absolute FAVORITE). I learned my lesson with her, as the over indulgence of cake for a one year old is a bit too much to bear.

But now I have a boy. And boy parties can be quite the challenge. I personally don't like the birthday in a box style of paper goods, as I am a planner... and I just "can't"... but for Baby Boy, I would LOVE the opportunity. See, his favorite thing right now is Jake and the Neverland Pirates, which is a brand new character on Disney - which oddly enough, they have not licensed ANY merchandise for!

So we turn to Etsy, a website I typically warn about catching "Etsy-itis" (where people do a little TOO much etsy in one event). This site was not around for my Daughter's birthday, thank goodness... we may have ended up with 5 parties!

I'm toying with Pirates.... or Monkeys (his nursery is covered with monkey murals)... but I love the high contrast of colors, and have a "look" in mind.... so who knows what we will end up with, I feel so far behind schedule - usually birthdays are planned 5 months in advance....(Again, I'm a planner... and don't expect you to do the same - but since I'm on the clock for my clients most of the time, I like to get the personal done in advance)

If you would like help with Your Birthday party dilemmas - we absolutely ADORE them! Sweet 16, Surprise Party, 40th birthdays.... parties for young and old. I'll give you my daughter as a reference - she's had some of the best parties in the history of a third grader! (Just kidding - we have other references as well!). Just imagine - you keep living your life, we do all the running around, and you get "THANKS MOM! That was AWESOME!" OR Big Big Points from your wife/girlfriend when you pull off the perfect party!

Favors are not limited to weddings and children's birthday parties. I, for one, am not typically one to advise my clients to have favors just for the sake of having it. I enjoy favors that have a personal meaning, like when Jennifer provided southern dip mixes from her home town diner for her guests.  I am not a fan of favor boxes tied with a ribbon containing something that will probably get left in the car, and melt before enjoyed... but that'sjust me..the practical budget conscious me....

Last week Laura and I met with the sweetest old ladies who made my heart skip a beat when they showed me their new product. Based on a craft one of their granddaughters brought home from school - (but with an elegant execution that does not involve staples and glue on rhinestones!) they have these gorgeous handmade custom fortune cookie favors.

Everything about these beauties are customized. Many of the details are HAND made - watercolored paint on the paper, hand formed, hand stamped..... Quotes can be from something you both cherish - favorite movies, songs, poems... cute nicknames for each other...... just your name and date... Or you can pull from the plethora of quotes by subject the creators have been collecting. Romantic quotes, Irish blessings, literature and even comical quotes like "If you find a man who can cook and clean - marry him"

The exteriors can simply match your colors, or have imprints with theme or initials... I LOVE this for a certain wedding we are discussing:

These favors are not limited to weddings. Corporate events can brand and inspire at a luncheon. The babyshower tiny handprints are adoreable, and could be filled with wonderful quotes about parenthood. There are adoreable black and white ones for a 40th birthday -just imagine the possibilities!

If you happened to go to Creegan's for St Patty's Day this year, you would have received one with an irish blessing. Holiday parties with season appropriate quotes... Dinner parties can use these as a stand for the placecard at each setting...

The beauty of these custom pieces? $1.50 each! For something completely customized, and made by hand... this is a wonderful deal!

They don't have a website yet, so contact us and we will get you in touch with the fabulous ladies of What-Knots.

The executive director had some kind words for us too!

This is the second year we have used All in the Details for the Amethyst Ball. Heather has done a wonderful job planning the event. The room was absolutely gorgeous. Even though I knew what she was planning, when I walked in and saw it all put together, I was very impressed. It was so glamorous. The lightening and the attention to detail was very impressive. It set the tone and atmosphere for the event.

All in the Details worked with Ballet Arkansas for the special events associated with the Nutcracker in 2008. Preliminary plans for a VIP Date night for the Saturday performance were put on hold until 2009, but involved a strawberry and champagne VIP intermission reception, and plans to incorporate local restaurants will be worked into future plans.

The Nutcracker Tea was taken to the next level by moving it from the lobby of the Peabody, to the Pallisades Ballroom of the Doubletree. Centerpieces were fishbowl vases filled with red mums and gold ting ting accents. The color of the mums brought some of the red from the carpet onto the white on white table service.

A special blend of Tea was created with River City Tea & Coffee, individually packaged as Nutcracker Tea and sold for $9 per bag, as well as served for the actual event. I worked with the the owners of River City Tea to create a tea that would please pallates of children and grandparents alike. It had hints of mulled cider, orange, and spices, without being over the top. Beautiful red color when brewed, and received many compliments. We also took the event from a buffet which was not maintained properly, to a seated, plated tea with an assortment of sandwhiches and pinwheels with delicious scones and desserts. Adults and children had different plates as well.
